
The Senate Committee on Appropriation has emphasized the need for the federal government to make appropriate budgetary allocation for Security in the country as well as the wellbeing of personnel at the theatre of War.
Speaking during the submission of reports by subcommittee on Army before the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Ali Ndume, said the issue of security and welfare of citizens must be well prioritized noting that this remains the purpose of any government.
He posited that in a situation where citizens are laying down their lives for peace to reign and having declared the state of emergency in the security sector, allocation for Security should be front loaded for more effectiveness.
Responding, the chairman of the Committee, Senator Adeola Olamilekan admitted that there is no among too much on security but posited that the intervention given to personnel by the Federal Government is from the federation account, which includes all the state governments and not from the Federal Government consolidated account alone.
Speaking Earlier, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Senator Abdulazeez Musa Yar Adua, presented the recommendations of the Joint Committee who had earlier met and deliberated on submissions by various bodies under the committee.
