A member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Ovat Dickson Agbor, who represents Obubra I Constituency, has been accused of physically assaulting his wife following allegations of infidelity.
Sources familiar with the matter alleged that the incident occurred last Saturday after a disagreement between the couple during a public gathering at the Assembly quarters.
According to the sources, the lawmaker reportedly accused his wife of drinking and engaging in relationships with other men. The confrontation allegedly continued after they returned home, where an argument escalated into a physical altercation.
“When they returned home, they began to argue, which escalated into a physical fight, resulting in him beating her,” a source claimed.
When contacted for comment, the wife downplayed the incident, stating, “Nothing happened. Just stay off. We will sort it out.”
Efforts to reach Hon. Agbor for his response were ongoing as of press time.
The allegation was first made public in a Facebook post by activist and journalist Agba Jalingo.
