Rita Maduagwu Leads Peaceful APC State Congress in Ebonyi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on March 3 conducted its 2026 State Congress in Ebonyi State, with Rt. Hon. Barr. Rita Maduagwu chairing the National Congress Committee that oversaw the exercise.

The congress, held at the PA Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki, ended with the re-election of Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha as state chairman alongside 35 other state executive members for another four-year term. The officials were returned unopposed through a consensus arrangement in line with party guidelines.

Speaking at the event, Maduagwu, a former Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, stated that the process complied fully with the party’s constitution and congress guidelines. She congratulated the re-elected officials and urged them to consolidate the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 general elections. She also appreciated the Ebonyi State Governor, party leaders and supporters for their cooperation with the committee.

Governor Francis Nwifuru, in his remarks, congratulated the newly elected state executives and commended the Maduagwu-led committee for conducting what he described as a peaceful and credible congress. He also praised Bola Ahmed Tinubu for strengthening and stabilising the party ahead of 2027, while assuring opposition parties of a level playing field in future political activities.

The exercise concluded without reported incidents, with party stakeholders describing it as orderly and successful.
