A Christian cleric, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has strongly condemned acts of violence carried out in the name of religion, stressing that no belief system should be used to justify the killing of innocent people.
Speaking during a recent address, Dachomo said he respects Allah and Muslims but expressed deep concern over incidents where individuals claiming to act in the name of religion allegedly engage in violence.
“I respect Allah, I respect the people of Allah, but when I see dead bodies killed by the followers of Allah, what do you want me to say?” he stated.
The cleric added that it would be cowardly to attack or kill someone simply because they insult a religious figure, noting that faith leaders or divine figures do not need humans to defend them through violence.
“I will be stupid and a coward to kill someone because he insults Jesus. Jesus is a supernatural being; he can defend himself,” he said.
Dachomo further called for tolerance and peaceful coexistence among people of different religious beliefs, urging communities to reject extremism and violence carried out in the name of faith.
