Mass Exodus in Kwara Communities as Bandit Attacks Displace Over 2,000 Residents

Bandit Attacks

Residents of Oke-Oyan, Oro-Ago, Oyate, and Ahun in Ifelodun LGA are fleeing en masse as repeated bandit attacks force communities into abandonment, with about 2,000 people already displaced and videos showing families packing and leaving.

On March 24, two hunters were killed during a convoy escort attack; on March 26, a vigilante known as “Baba Ibeji” was killed, another person injured, and the NSCDC office targeted; and on March 28, security forces repelled a fresh invasion attempt.

Earlier, eight worshippers were abducted in an ECWA church attack in the area, as killings, kidnappings, and sustained attacks continue to drive widespread displacement across Kwara South.
