Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has called for the immediate release of embattled businessman Linus Williams Ifejirika, describing his detention as unjust and a dangerous precedent for the rule of law.
In a strongly worded statement, Sowore criticized the court-ordered remand of B-Lord, insisting that no individual should be celebrated for being incarcerated under what he termed “the color of law.”
“I have reached out to my astute rights lawyer, Marshal D F Abubakar, urging him to disengage from the process,” Sowore stated, signaling his disapproval of the legal proceedings surrounding the case.
He argued that the detention of the businessman does not represent a triumph of justice or legal advocacy, but rather highlights a troubling trend where legal systems are allegedly used to oppress citizens.
“We must all agree that sending B-Lord to prison is not a victory for legal brilliance or advocacy. Rather, it risks emboldening a system of oppression that weaponizes the law against citizens,” he said.
Sowore further emphasized that justice should not be reduced to mere punishment, warning against actions that could undermine public confidence in the judicial system.
He concluded by vowing to take steps to ensure the case is discontinued and that B-Lord regains his freedom without further delay.
The case involving B-Lord has continued to generate reactions across social and political circles, with opinions divided over the legality and implications of his detention.
