The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a stern warning to popular comedian Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, popularly known as Mr Sabinus, over a viral poster falsely claiming he had been declared wanted by the agency.
The controversy erupted after an edited image circulated widely on social media, suggesting that the comedian was being sought by the anti-graft commission. The post quickly gained traction, sparking confusion and concern among fans.
Reacting to the development, the EFCC dismissed the poster as fake and described the act as misleading. The agency cautioned against the creation and spread of such content, warning that it undermines its operations and could have legal consequences.
Sources within the commission reportedly labeled the act as “clout chasing,” emphasizing that individuals should refrain from using the agency’s name or insignia for publicity stunts.
