Human rights lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, has raised concerns over the credibility of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Joash Amupitan, following a controversy surrounding an alleged social media account on X (formerly Twitter).
In a strongly worded reaction, Ejimakor claimed that the INEC chairman “failed his first integrity test” after reports emerged linking him to a pro-APC account on the platform. According to him, shortly after the account was exposed, its username was allegedly altered, the profile locked, and subsequently denied, with a new account reportedly created.
He questioned whether such actions could undermine public trust in the electoral body, particularly with regard to the handling of election results through INEC’s digital platforms, including the IReV portal.
“Is that how the election result/IREV is also going to be altered?” Ejimakor asked, raising concerns about transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s electoral process.
