Ibrahim Abdulkarim, a political associate of Peter Obi, has stated on Trust TV that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has agreed to serve as Obi’s vice-presidential running mate for the 2027 election.
Speaking on Daily Politics, Abdulkarim was asked directly if Kwankwaso had accepted the role. He responded: “Yes, I can categorically say that he agreed. They have met not once, not twice. We have already arranged for a Kwankwasiyya and Obidient summit very soon.”
Both Obi and Kwankwaso are currently linked to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where talks of a broader opposition coalition are ongoing.
Obi is expected to seek the presidential ticket, while Kwankwaso, a former Kano governor with a strong northern base, has been central to alliance discussions in recent months.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from Kwankwaso or his close allies. However, Abdulkarim’s statement is the clearest indication yet from within Obi’s camp that an agreement may have been reached.
Attention is now on the proposed Kwankwasiyya–Obidient summit, which Abdulkarim says is already being arranged and is expected to bring both political movements together publicly for the first time.
