Nigerian Troops Kill Two Insurgents, Recover Rifles in Borno Operation

Troops of B Company, 144 Battalion (Motorised), have neutralised two terrorists during a night ambush operation in Kaffin Hausa area of Borno State.

Security sources said the operation was conducted on April 25 at about 8:45 p.m. following an ambush laid by troops as part of ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

The troops reportedly made contact with the terrorists after which a brief firefight ensued.

“At the end of the engagement, two terrorists were neutralised while others escaped with gunshot wounds,” the source said.

Items recovered from the scene include two AK-47 rifles.

No casualties were recorded on the side of the troops, while a wounded individual of unknown affiliation was noted during the encounter.

Military authorities said further exploitation of the area is ongoing to track fleeing elements and recover additional intelligence.

The operation is part of sustained efforts under Operation Hadin Kai to degrade terrorist capabilities and secure communities in the North-East.
