The Nigeria Police Force Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed his commitment to professional and community-focused policing following a state banquet held in his honour in Lagos.

The event, hosted by the Lagos State Government at the Lagos State House in Marina on Saturday, celebrated Disu’s recent appointment as the 23rd indigenous and 33rd Inspector-General of Police of Nigeria.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the police chief as a distinguished son of Lagos whose career has been defined by discipline, service, and excellence. He noted that the honour reflected Disu’s impactful leadership, particularly during his tenure as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad in the state.

In his remarks, Disu expressed gratitude to the government and people of Lagos, describing the reception as a symbolic homecoming. He recalled his years of service in the state and pledged to prioritise professionalism, rebuild public trust, and deepen community engagement in policing across the country.

The police boss also emphasised the importance of collaboration in addressing security challenges, promising to strengthen partnerships between the police, the Lagos State Government, and key stakeholders, including the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.

He called on Nigerians to support law enforcement agencies, stressing that maintaining security requires collective responsibility from government, private sector actors, civil society, and citizens.

The colourful ceremony drew top dignitaries, senior security officials, and members of the public, underscoring the strong ties between Lagos State and the Inspector-General, as well as a shared commitment to national development and public safety.
