Youth and women groups within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Owerri Federal Constituency have thrown their weight behind High Chief Okey Amadi, describing him as the most competent aspirant ahead of the party’s 2026 primaries.
In a statement issued after a meeting held at Rock View Hotel, the groups urged party leaders, delegates, and stakeholders to support and endorse Amadi’s candidacy for the House of Representatives seat. They further disclosed that Amadi, described as a dogged philanthropist, recently received a reported sum of ₦10 million and a brand new Sienna vehicle from the son of another ADC aspirant within Owerri North Local Government Area, an action they claimed signals strong backing and endorsement of his candidacy ahead of the primaries.
They cited his track record as a philanthropist and his contributions to party development across Owerri North Local Government Area and the wider constituency as key reasons for their endorsement.
According to the statement, the groups believe Amadi possesses the capacity to address critical challenges in the constituency, including poor infrastructure, inadequate electricity supply, unemployment, limited access to healthcare, and gaps in the education sector.
The endorsement also referenced what was described as a significant show of support for Amadi’s candidacy, following reported backing from associates linked to another aspirant within the same local government area.
The ADC youths and women concluded by reaffirming their commitment to mobilizing support for Amadi ahead of the party primaries scheduled for May/June 2026 and the 2027 general elections.
