An officer of the Western Nigeria Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun, has reportedly sustained serious facial injuries following a confrontation with suspected Fulani herdsmen in a Yoruba community.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident began after some local women raised alarm over alleged harassment by the herdsmen. The women were said to have alerted Amotekun operatives, who responded to the scene to restore order.
Sources claim that during the intervention, the security operatives attempted to prevent the herdsmen from crossing into a restricted area. This reportedly led to a heated exchange, which escalated into violence.
In the course of the altercation, one of the herders allegedly struck an Amotekun officer in the face with a stick, leaving him with severe injuries, including a disfigured mouth.
