The Executive Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area, and Deputy Chairman of ALGON, Enugu State, Barr. Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, has extended warm felicitations to the First Lady of Enugu State, Her Excellency, Mrs Nkechinyere Ihuoma Mbah, on the auspicious occasion of her birth anniversary, describing her as a beacon of compassion and humanitarianism
In a statement issued on behalf of the Government and the good people of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area, the Chairman paid glowing tribute to Her Excellency’s enduring commitment to humanitarian advancement and her uncommon affinity with the people of Igbo-Eze South.
According to him, “Her Excellency is not just the First Lady of Enugu State; she is a compassionate mother whose heart resonates deeply with the aspirations and challenges of our people. Igbo-Eze South holds a special place in her heart, just as she occupies a revered place in ours.”
Barr. Ukwueze particularly highlighted Her Excellency’s remarkable intervention in the lives of a vulnerable family in Amachara Ovoko, Igbo-Eze South LGA, where she facilitated the construction of a befitting bungalow for Mr. and Mrs. Chisom Odoh, who were faced with the daunting responsibility of raising quintuplets without adequate shelter, raising concerns about the welfare of the children.
“This singular act of kindness,” Ukwueze noted, “goes beyond philanthropy; it represents a profound expression of humanity, empathy and responsive leadership. At a time of dire need, Her Excellency stepped in not just as a benefactor, but as a pillar of hope and dignity.”
The Deputy ALGON Chairman further recalled Her Excellency’s personal attendance at the matriculation ceremony of beneficiaries of the Igbo-Eze South Local Government Scholarship Initiative Programme held at the Mario Institute of Hospitality Management and Entrepreneurship Education. Her presence, he said, served as a powerful source of inspiration and encouragement to the young trainees.
It was during this significant event that the Enugu North Senatorial Zone Council of Traditional Rulers conferred on Her Excellency the prestigious chieftaincy title of IFE KA UGO I OF NSUKKA ZONE, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to human development and social welfare.
“In every sense,” the Chairman stated, “that honour was not only well-deserved but symbolic of the far-reaching impact of her benevolence across communities.”
Mayor Ukwueze also commended Her Excellency’s strategic intervention in the education sector, particularly her role in facilitating free JAMB registration for aspiring female candidates during the 2026 Igbo-Eze South Local Government Education Support Initiative.
“This initiative further buttresses Her Excellency’s visionary commitment to girl-child education and inclusive development. By removing financial barriers, she has opened doors of opportunity for countless young girls to pursue their higher education aspirations and realise their full potential,” Ukwueze added.
Reaffirming the collective appreciation of the people of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area, the Chairman emphasised that Her Excellency’s goodwill towards Igbo-Eze South cannot be overemphasized.
“We celebrate a woman of grace, substance and uncommon generosity. Her Excellency’s continuous support has left an indelible mark on our communities, and her legacy of compassion will continue to inspire generations.”
He concluded by wishing the First Lady good health, renewed strength and greater accomplishments in her service to humanity.
