The Supreme Court of Nigeria is set to deliver judgment today (Thursday) in the ADC leadership dispute, with three clear outcomes on the table.
First, a victory for David Mark. The court could rule the matter is an internal party affair, set aside earlier decisions, and affirm his faction’s leadership, giving his camp full control ahead of 2027.
Second, a victory for Nafiu Bala Gombe. If the appeal is dismissed and lower court rulings are upheld, it could validate the challenge against Mark’s leadership or keep the dispute alive, deepening the crisis.
Third, a technical or split decision. The court could avoid backing either side, order fresh internal processes, or maintain the status quo, prolonging uncertainty with both sides claiming partial victory.
The case, marked SC/CV/180/2026, centers on party leadership, internal governance, and whether courts can intervene.
The ruling is final and will shape the ADC’s position ahead of the 2027 elections.
