The first convention of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Abuja has continued to generate massive reactions online after a viral post jokingly listed several past and present Nigerian leaders among the dignitaries said to have attended the gathering.
The list included former President Goodluck Jonathan, former military ruler Ibrahim Babangida, Nasir El-Rufai, former Vice President Namadi Sambo, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, cleric Tunde Bakare and Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka.
The viral post also humorously mentioned late Nigerian leaders including Sani Abacha, Muhammadu Buhari and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, leading many social media users to describe the convention as one that had gained “unprecedented momentum.”
The NDC convention, held in Abuja on May 9, attracted political conversations nationwide amid growing realignments ahead of future elections, with supporters claiming the party is rapidly gaining popularity across the country.
