Northern Group Calls for Competent, People-Oriented Leadership Ahead of 2027 Elections

A northern socio-political advocate, Comrade Musa Gambo Hamisu Danzaki, has called on northern elites, intellectuals, and political stakeholders to prioritize competence, justice, and people-oriented leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement released on Monday, Danzaki expressed concern over the worsening condition of ordinary Northerners despite decades of political leadership allegedly carried out in the name of the region.

According to him, millions of people across Northern Nigeria continue to battle poverty, insecurity, unemployment, poor education, weak healthcare systems, and economic hardship.

He questioned the impact of some self-acclaimed northern leaders, asking what measurable achievements they have delivered to improve the lives of the people they claim to represent.

Danzaki stated that the time had come for Nigerians, particularly northern youths, to move beyond politics based on ethnicity, religion, fear, and personal interests.

He stressed that the future of Nigeria must be built on competence, accountability, fairness, unity, and genuine commitment to national development.

Speaking on ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, he said any discussion surrounding a possible alliance between Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso should be assessed based on leadership capacity, vision, integrity, and dedication to improving the lives of Nigerians rather than ethnic or religious considerations.

He further noted that northern citizens are increasingly demanding good governance, security, quality education, economic empowerment, transparency, fairness, and responsible leadership.

“No individual or group possesses the monopoly to determine the political direction of the North without listening to the voices and aspirations of the people,” he stated.

Danzaki urged political actors and stakeholders across the country to place national interest above political calculations and work towards building a united, peaceful, and prosperous Nigeria.

He added that Northern Nigeria deserves leadership that prioritizes development over political manipulation, service over selfish ambition, and justice over division.
