The Enugu State Government has issued an important public clarification regarding its ongoing verification exercise for pensioners, next-of-kin, and newly employed civil servants.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the government explained that the exercise is strictly for specific categories of beneficiaries who have either not been verified or are newly entering the system.
According to the statement, the verification is open to three main groups: next-of-kin whose earlier verification processes were delayed due to incomplete documentation such as Letters of Administration, pensioners who missed previous verification exercises but have now received verification codes, and newly employed civil servants undergoing first-time verification.
The government strongly emphasized that individuals who have already completed verification are not required to participate again, warning that such actions would be treated as “double verification,” which is considered a fraudulent practice.
“Those already verified do not need to come again. Your files are currently being processed through the appropriate channels,” the statement read.
It further cautioned that any previously verified persons who attempt to undergo re-verification may face consequences, as the government seeks to maintain transparency and order in the administration of pension and payroll systems.
The Enugu State Government reiterated its commitment to ensuring an efficient and credible verification process aimed at eliminating delays and ensuring that only duly verified beneficiaries are processed for payments.
