Tension reportedly erupted in the Igbo-Etiti area of Enugu State after a married woman and her alleged lover were publicly paraded by residents following claims that they were caught by the woman’s husband in a compromising situation.
According to reports, the husband allegedly returned home and found his wife and another man inside their matrimonial home. He reportedly raised an alarm, attracting neighbors and community members to the scene.
Eyewitness accounts claim that angry residents gathered shortly after the incident, and the pair were allegedly paraded around the community while being physically assaulted before being chased away.
Reports further suggest that the individuals may have been banished from the area, although details surrounding any formal community decision remain unclear.
The incident has also revived discussions around traditional beliefs in the Igbo-Etiti community, where some locals hold the cultural belief that a married woman who engages in infidelity may face spiritual consequences.
