A man claiming to be a Nigerian police officer has sparked outrage online after a viral video showed him allegedly threatening members of the public over being recorded while on duty.
In the video circulating across social media platforms, the unidentified man complained bitterly about the harsh conditions faced by police officers, alleging that he has suffered for 26 years in service without adequate welfare or support from the authorities.
The man, who displayed scars and alleged gunshot wounds on his body, claimed that the Nigeria Police Force does not provide officers with basic necessities, including uniforms.
“I am a Police Officer and I am seriously suffering for the past 26 years. Any Nigerian who dares video me while I am on duty, I will send him to heaven,” he said in the video.
He further threatened commuters and bystanders, warning that he would “clear the entire bus” of anyone caught filming him while carrying out what he described as his lawful duty.
The disturbing remarks have triggered widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the officer’s mental state and the alleged threats against civilians.
Several social media users have called on the Nigeria Police Force to urgently investigate the identity of the man in the video and determine whether he is truly a serving police officer.
Others also demanded disciplinary action if the claims are verified, stressing that no security operative should threaten citizens for recording public activities.
