Aba Gets Major Infrastructure Boost as Gov. Otti Commissions 14 Roads, Flags Off Aba Ring Road Phase 1

Alex Otti

Governor Alex Otti has commissioned 14 newly completed road projects across Aba, spanning Osisioma, Aba North, and Aba South Local Government Areas, in what he described as a key milestone in his administration’s urban renewal agenda.

The commissioned roads include Aro Amano–Eke Aro Road, Adaelu Road, Geometric Road, Afule Road, Assemblies of God Church Road, Nwogu Ajagba Street, Nwala Street, Sacred Heart Street, Elizabeth Avenue, Nigerian Brewery Ring Road, Etche Road, Mosque Road, Crystal Park Road, and Kingdom Hall Street.

According to the governor, the projects are aimed at improving intra-city connectivity, easing chronic traffic congestion, and strengthening Aba’s position as an industrial hub. He noted that roads such as Geometric Road, previously in a dilapidated condition, have now been transformed into functional corridors supporting commercial activities and industrial growth.

Afule Road was highlighted as a strategic bypass designed to reduce pressure on the busy Aba–Owerri Road, while Adaelu Road was cited as an example of the speed and efficiency of ongoing infrastructure delivery across the city.

In addition to the commissioning, Governor Otti also flagged off the first phase of the Aba Ring Road project (4.9km), being implemented under the Greater Aba Development Authority (GADA). The project is expected to serve as a major bypass route, decongesting Aba metropolis and improving connectivity to neighbouring states including Akwa Ibom and Cross River.

The administration emphasized that all the road projects feature modern engineering standards, including proper drainage systems, street lighting, and durable road surfacing to ensure long-term sustainability.

As the administration marks three years in office, Governor Otti described the developments as evidence of steady progress, saying the projects are opening new economic pathways and positioning Aba for renewed growth.

He reaffirmed his commitment to continued infrastructure expansion, stating that “Aba is rising,” as the state government intensifies efforts to reshape Abia State’s commercial capital into a modern economic hub.
