Atiku Urges Leaders to Embrace Sacrifice, Compassion in Eid-el-Kabir Message

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has called on Nigerians and political leaders to reflect deeply on the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir, describing the celebration as a reminder of faith, sacrifice, and divine reliance in difficult times.

In a goodwill message marking the festival, Atiku said the occasion presents a “remarkable moment” for Nigerians to strengthen their worship of God and reaffirm absolute trust in His divine authority, especially amid the country’s current socio-economic challenges.

He expressed concern over what he described as a widening gap between leaders and their responsibilities, noting that leadership in Nigeria has increasingly become a status symbol rather than a call to service.

According to him, the Eid-el-Kabir celebration should serve as a moral reminder to those in authority to prioritize the welfare and interests of the people above all else.

“Atiku urged leaders to always ensure that the interests of the people remain paramount in their obligations,” the statement emphasized.

He further prayed that the values of sacrifice, faith, and compassion symbolized by the Eid festival would inspire national renewal and encourage purposeful leadership across the country.

The former vice president concluded by wishing Muslims a peaceful and reflective Eid celebration.
