Founder of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has defended the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, over criticisms surrounding his past involvement in civic actions during previous administrations.
Suleman was reacting to claims circulating on social media alleging that Pastor Adeboye participated in protests during the administration of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan but has remained silent under President Bola Tinubu’s government.
He dismissed the allegations, clarifying that Adeboye did not personally lead any protest, but was part of a directive from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), which organised prayer walks involving clerics at the time.
“There are some people attacking Daddy G.O., Pastor Adeboye, claiming that he protested under former President Jonathan but is not protesting under Tinubu. He did not protest then; it was the PFN that directed pastors and preachers to embark on a prayer walk,” Suleman said.
He questioned expectations placed on the cleric, noting Adeboye’s age and standing, arguing that it would be unrealistic to expect him to physically participate in street protests.
“Do you expect a man of 84 years to come out and protest?” he added.
Suleman further stated that his comments were also a personal defence of the respected cleric, describing Adeboye as a spiritual father figure.
“I am a son of Adeboye, and if he is not speaking out, I am speaking out too,” he said.
