Governor Seyi Makinde has signed an executive order restricting motorcycle operations across Oyo State between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. as part of efforts to tackle insecurity and secure the release of abducted teachers and schoolchildren.
Announcing the directive, the governor said the state government remains committed to ensuring the safe return of all victims currently in captivity, stressing that every day they remain kidnapped brings pain to their families and the people of Oyo State.
“The operation of motorcycles will now be restricted between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. We will not relent until our kidnapped teachers and school children return home safely. Every day they remain in captivity is a painful day for their families and all of us in Oyo State,” Makinde stated.
The governor noted that the measure forms part of broader security interventions aimed at curbing criminal activities, particularly kidnappings and the movement of criminal elements who often exploit motorcycles to evade security checks.
The Oyo State Government urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and comply with the new regulation as authorities intensify efforts to restore safety and rescue those still being held by abductors.
