At the opening ceremony of Invest Lagos 3.0 held at the Convention Centre of Eko Hotels and Suites, Abia State Governor Alex Otti showcased his administration’s economic reforms and investment opportunities, describing Abia as a fast-transforming state open to business and innovation.

The event, which took place in Lagos State, brought together Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors from across the country, international investors, and key business leaders. It was hosted under the platform of Invest Lagos 3.0, aimed at promoting subnational investment opportunities across Nigeria.

Governor Otti commended Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for creating a platform that allows states to present their economic strengths, noting that Nigeria’s long-term growth depends on the emergence of multiple productive and competitive cities.

Highlighting recent developments in Abia State, Otti disclosed that Aba now enjoys 24-hour electricity supply following over two decades of efforts culminating in the Geometric Power project. He said the development has laid a strong foundation for industrial growth, manufacturing, and investor confidence, with plans to extend stable power supply to Umuahia and other parts of the state.

He also revealed that his administration has completed over 400 roads within three years, introduced electric buses, and invested heavily in infrastructure aimed at improving mobility and environmental sustainability.

In the health sector, Otti stated that Abia has been ranked Nigeria’s most health-emergency prepared state according to the SBM 2025 report. He added that hundreds of primary healthcare centres have been refurbished, over 800 health professionals recruited, and about 15% of the state budget allocated to healthcare. He further outlined plans for the proposed Abia Medical City, a 200-hectare healthcare investment hub awaiting private sector participation.

The governor also spotlighted the Abia Industrial and Innovation Park (AIIP) in Owaza, Ukwa West Local Government Area, describing it as a major industrial hub anchored on oil and gas resources and designed to attract large-scale manufacturing and innovation-driven investment.

Otti emphasized that Abia is not in competition with Lagos but seeks to complement it, stressing that Nigeria’s economic transformation requires multiple thriving centres of growth.

He concluded by inviting investors to explore opportunities in Abia, describing the state as “open, prepared, and positioned for growth,” with a vision of shared prosperity driven by industry, healthcare, and innovation.
