Erling Haaland has humbly dismissed claims that he is currently the best striker in world football, insisting that statistics tell a different story.
Speaking about his place among the game’s elite forwards, the Manchester City star acknowledged that while he belongs in the conversation, he cannot claim the top spot based on this season’s goal-scoring numbers.
“Best striker in the world? I’d say I’m up there, but I haven’t scored the most goals this season,” Haaland said.
The Norwegian striker pointed to Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé as players who have outscored him this campaign.
“Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé have scored more than me, and that’s reality. Statistically, no, I’m not the best,” he added.
