Lovers in Cross River State

A tragic incident has claimed the lives of a young woman, Miss Favour Uduak Smith, and her boyfriend in Calabar, Cross River State, after they reportedly suffered suspected carbon monoxide poisoning from generator fumes.

The incident occurred at Poultry Farm Road in Calabar South Local Government Area in June 2026.

According to Vanguard, the young man had recently moved into a new apartment and invited his girlfriend, Favour, to stay with him.

Following a power outage, he allegedly switched on a generator and left it inside the room before the couple went to sleep.

They were discovered lifeless the following morning after reportedly inhaling toxic fumes from the generator throughout the night.

A source in the area revealed that a newly purchased puppy in the apartment also died from the same fumes. While the bodies of the deceased were evacuated to the mortuary, neighbours buried the puppy within the compound.
