Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Rev. Dr. William Okoye, describing him as a distinguished servant of God whose life was marked by unwavering faith, selfless service, and a commitment to raising men and women of integrity.
In a condolence message, Obi said he received the news of Rev. Okoye’s passing with profound sadness, describing the late cleric as one of the rare generation of spiritual leaders who understood that the true measure of ministry lies not in the size of its platforms but in the depth of its impact on humanity.
According to Obi, Rev. Okoye inspired countless people through his teachings, leadership, and personal example, encouraging them to live lives of purpose, righteousness, discipline, and hope.
He noted that the cleric’s death is a significant loss to his family, the All Christians Fellowship Mission (ACFM), the Body of Christ, and Nigeria, especially at a time when the country needs voices that promote unity, justice, peace, and compassion.
Obi, however, urged Nigerians to celebrate Rev. Okoye’s life of faithful service, saying the values he embodied and the many lives he transformed would continue to inspire future generations.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the late cleric’s soul and encouraged Nigerians to honour his legacy by living selflessly and working towards the advancement of God’s kingdom and the development of a just, peaceful, and prosperous nation.
