As political activities gather momentum ahead of the race for the House of Representatives seat for Owerri Federal Constituency, many constituents are increasingly pointing to High Chief Okey Amadi (KSC) as a candidate whose record of service distinguishes him from others seeking the position.
Representing Owerri Municipal, Owerri North and Owerri West Federal Constituency requires a leader with proven capacity, vision and a track record of delivering practical solutions to community challenges. Supporters argue that High Chief Amadi has consistently demonstrated these qualities through initiatives aimed at improving security, empowering young people and promoting community development.
One of his most notable interventions came in April and May 2026 when he donated advanced security drones to Obibiezena and Ihiagwa communities to strengthen efforts against rising insecurity. The drones were introduced to assist security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Forest Guard, in monitoring vulnerable areas, tracking criminal activities and identifying hideouts used by suspected criminals.
The initiative has been widely commended as an innovative community-based security model that leverages modern technology to support law enforcement in safeguarding lives and property across parts of Owerri North and Owerri West Local Government Areas.
Beyond donating the equipment, High Chief Amadi also invested in building local capacity. A comprehensive drone training programme is currently underway for carefully selected youths from Eziobodo, Nekede, Amakohia, Ndegwu, Emii and Emekuku communities. The participants were screened and verified in collaboration with relevant security agencies to ensure professionalism and accountability.
Upon completion of the training, the beneficiaries are expected to receive drones within one month and work closely with security agencies to improve surveillance, enhance intelligence gathering and support rapid responses to criminal activities in their respective communities.
Supporters describe the programme as more than a security intervention, saying it also creates opportunities for young people to acquire valuable technological skills while contributing meaningfully to public safety.
Security, however, represents only one aspect of High Chief Amadi’s broader development agenda. He has consistently advocated improved healthcare delivery, with a focus on expanding access to quality medical services for rural and urban communities across the constituency.
Youth empowerment also remains central to his vision. He has pledged to create sustainable empowerment programmes that equip young people and women with skills, financial support and opportunities for entrepreneurship to improve livelihoods.
Recognising the high rate of unemployment among graduates, High Chief Amadi has also outlined plans to facilitate federal employment opportunities for qualified youths within the constituency, ensuring they benefit from available job placements in federal ministries, departments and agencies.
Infrastructure development is another priority. He has expressed commitment to attracting federal road construction and rehabilitation projects that will improve transportation, stimulate economic activities and enhance connectivity across Owerri Municipal, Owerri North and Owerri West.
Political observers note that while campaign promises are common during election seasons, many voters are increasingly paying attention to candidates with visible records of service. For many supporters, High Chief Okey Amadi’s investments in community security, youth development and grassroots initiatives demonstrate leadership beyond political rhetoric.
As the contest for the House of Representatives seat approaches, constituents will ultimately decide who best represents their aspirations. However, supporters maintain that High Chief Okey Amadi (KSC) has already shown through action, innovation and community engagement that he possesses the experience, vision and commitment needed to provide effective representation for Owerri Federal Constituency.
