Three suspected burglars have been apprehended by the Nsukka Neighbourhood Watch after they were allegedly caught attempting to break into a shop in the Nsukka area of Enugu State.
The suspects identified themselves as Obinna Charles, Chisom Ugwu, and Izuchukwu. During questioning by members of the local security outfit, they reportedly confessed to being involved in breaking into shops and stealing goods and other valuables.
According to the suspects, the stolen items were allegedly taken to one of their gang members, identified as Izuchukwu, who bought the stolen goods and resold them.
Following their arrest, the suspects reportedly pleaded for forgiveness. However, rather than being subjected to mob justice, they were peacefully handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Nsukka Neighbourhood Watch was commended by residents for handling the situation professionally and ensuring the suspects were transferred to the appropriate authorities in line with the rule of law.
Police are expected to continue investigations to determine the full extent of the suspects’ alleged activities and identify any other members of the criminal network.
