Dr. James Oramadike, JP, popularly known as High Chief Oramadike, Asiwaju Ndi Igbo, Chairman of the Council of Igbo Traditional Leaders in Yorubaland, South West Nigeria, Grand Patron of the Non-Indigenes Forum, South West Nigeria, and President of the Wood Export Processing Association of Nigeria, has declared his full support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking after a meeting held in his office with members of the Igbo community and traditional leaders, High Chief Oramadike said the gathering unanimously resolved to support President Tinubu’s second-term bid after extensive consultations and careful deliberations.
According to him, the decision reflects the collective desire of the Igbo community in Yorubaland to promote national unity, peaceful coexistence, and sustained collaboration among Nigerians irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.
High Chief Oramadike, who stated that he has lived in Ibadan, South West Nigeria, for more than 55 years, said his experience has convinced him that Yorubaland remains peaceful, welcoming, and accommodating to all Nigerians. He noted that the cordial relationship between the Yoruba and Igbo people has continued to strengthen over the decades through commerce, mutual respect, and cultural integration.
With over three million followers across his platforms, the traditional ruler expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for what he described as key interventions in the South East, including the creation of the South East Oil Producing Area and the execution of several infrastructural development projects across Igboland.
He maintained that Nigeria’s continued progress depends on political stability, inclusive governance, economic growth, and peaceful participation in the democratic process. He therefore urged members of the Igbo community and all Nigerians to remain law-abiding and actively contribute to the nation’s development.
High Chief Oramadike also called on political actors to conduct their campaigns peacefully, avoid inflammatory rhetoric, and place the country’s unity above partisan interests as preparations for the 2027 general election intensify.
During the meeting, the Council of Igbo Traditional Leaders in South West Nigeria also resolved that Ohanaeze Ndigbo, being a socio-cultural organization similar to Afenifere and the Arewa Consultative Forum, should not interfere in matters relating to Igbo traditional institutions and chieftaincy affairs within the South West.
The Council reaffirmed that issues concerning traditional leadership and chieftaincy titles among Igbo communities in the South West remain the exclusive responsibility of Yoruba Monarchs.
The endorsement comes as political consultations and public declarations of support continue to gather momentum across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general election.
