2027: Obasanjo Is the Main Force Behind Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket — Former Adviser

Former Political Adviser to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, Akin Osuntokun, has dismissed claims that Obasanjo’s recent letter to former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba was intended to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a political advantage.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Osuntokun said there was no basis for such an interpretation, insisting that Obasanjo has remained a vocal critic of the Tinubu administration.

According to him, the only presidential ticket the former president appears to be supporting ahead of the 2027 general election is a potential alliance between Labour Party’s Peter Obi and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

“I don’t think it’s correct to say what Obasanjo said in his letter to Osoba is an attempt to give advantage to Tinubu. Obasanjo is critical of Tinubu’s administration. The only ticket Obasanjo is supporting is the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, which is conspicuously obvious,” Osuntokun said.
