A hostel building has reportedly collapsed at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, trapping an unknown number of students beneath the rubble.
The multi-storey building was said to have caved in on Sunday night, July 27, 2026, while students were inside.
Eyewitnesses said residents and students living nearby heard a loud rumbling sound before the structure suddenly collapsed, prompting panic in the area.
The incident attracted a large crowd as people rushed to the scene to assist in rescue efforts before emergency responders arrived.
Rescue operations are currently ongoing as authorities work to determine the number of people trapped and rescue those affected.
