A barber identified simply as Emeka has been arrested in Umuahia, Abia State, over allegations that he collected and kept the hair of his customers for suspected ritual purposes.
The suspect was apprehended after a clay pot reportedly stuffed with shaved human hair was allegedly discovered inside his one-room apartment in Umuahia.
According to reports, the discovery was made on Tuesday, July 28, after Emeka’s neighbour, Mr. Johnson Ikenga, reported him to the police for allegedly issuing threats against him.
Police officers who responded to the complaint reportedly searched the suspect’s residence during the arrest, leading to the recovery of the clay pot containing human hair, alongside other items described as fetish objects.
During interrogation, Emeka allegedly admitted that the pot belonged to him but was unable to explain the purpose of the items or how he obtained the human hair found in his possession.
The suspect was subsequently taken into custody by officers attached to the Central Police Station (CPS), Umuahia, while investigations into the matter are ongoing.
