Former Military Governor of old Imo State, Major General Ike Nwachukwu (Rtd.), CFR, has praised Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for what he described as a remarkable transformation of the state, saying the governor’s three and a half years in office have surpassed the achievements of the previous 24 years.
Nwachukwu made the remarks during the ongoing First South-East Security Summit at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Umuahia, where he commended Otti’s leadership and urged Abians to support his administration.
“My Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, three and a half years of governance have put to shame 24 years of nothingness in Abia State. Today I feel proud to say I’m Abia, and I believe those of you sitting here feel the same way,” the retired army general said.
He added that he agreed with the Deputy Speaker’s assessment of the governor’s performance and encouraged Otti to remain focused on delivering good governance.
“So I share the Deputy Speaker’s affirmation that you’re doing well, so keep that going and so when he comes on the ballot next time around, put him back to office,” Nwachukwu stated.
The retired general, who also served as Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs on two occasions and represented Abia North in the Senate, made the remarks while applauding Governor Otti’s leadership during the security summit attended by stakeholders from across the South-East.
