At least six Nigerian soldiers have been killed and more than 75 residents abducted after heavily armed terrorists attacked Kasuwar Daji in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State late on Saturday night. In a separate attack in Lajinge village, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, a father and his two sons were burnt alive after terrorists set their house on fire.
According to residents, the attackers stormed Kasuwar Daji at about 11:30 p.m., overpowered the military outpost protecting the community, and opened fire indiscriminately. After killing the soldiers, the terrorists looted shops, carting away food items, drinks, and other valuables before abducting more than 75 residents and taking them into the forest.
A resident, Alhaji Aminu Kasuwar Daji, described the attack as devastating, saying the community was left helpless after the terrorists overran the military base. Former Deputy Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Namadi Kasuwar Daji, also confirmed the attack, saying relatives informed him that many residents were kidnapped after the assailants invaded the town.
In Sokoto State, terrorists attacked Lajinge village, killing at least 12 people. Among the victims were a father and his two sons, who were trapped and burnt alive inside a building where they had sought refuge as the attackers set homes ablaze. Several others were injured, while many residents fled the community to escape the violence.
The latest attacks have heightened fears over the worsening insecurity across Nigeria’s North-West, with residents calling on the Federal Government and security agencies to strengthen military operations and protect vulnerable communities from persistent terrorist raids.
