President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Wale Oke, has condemned the National Assembly over reports of plans to prohibit preaching in commercial buses across the country, urging Christians to continue evangelising in buses, taxis and other public places.
Speaking in a viral video, the PFN National President said Christians would not obey any law that prevents them from preaching the gospel, insisting that they would rather obey God than man. He maintained that believers would continue preaching in buses and other public places because Christ commanded them to spread the gospel to every creature.
Oke challenged the authorities to enforce such a law, saying he wanted to see how more than 65 million Christians under the PFN would be imprisoned. He urged Pentecostal Christians not to be discouraged, calling on them to preach in every taxi and bus, while declaring that if arrests were made, the government should turn stadiums into prisons because Christians would not stop evangelising.
The cleric also criticised the government’s priorities, questioning why authorities were allegedly focusing on those preaching the gospel instead of pursuing killers, kidnappers, bandits, rapists and other criminals. He insisted that Christians were spreading a message of peace and should not be treated as offenders.
He further declared that those in government were occupying their positions for only a limited time, adding that God would judge them. Oke also warned those promoting the law to repent, saying they would face God’s judgment if they failed to do so. He maintained that Christians were unstoppable and vowed that, if necessary, he would direct millions of believers to march in protest against the enforcement of the law.
His remarks followed reports suggesting that the National Assembly was introducing a ban on preaching in commercial vehicles.
