Abia State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, on Friday, August 7, 2026, received the Planet Project team, the construction group responsible for building the Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal and other key transport infrastructure across the State, including the ongoing Aba Bus Terminal.

The team was led by the Managing Director of Planet Project, Engr. Biodun Otunola. The meeting was held at Government House, Umuahia.

Governor Otti thanked Engr. Otunola for delivering to Abia people a quality experience through the construction of the Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal.

Gov. Otti expressed his desire to commission the Aba Bus Terminal by early December.

“I have also noted that Aba Bus Terminal is going to be delivered by the end of November.

“It will be very nice to commission it at the end of November or very early December for public use,” the Governor said.

Governor Otti instructed that the rooftop of the garage at the Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal should be converted to solar. He further directed that the same be replicated at the ongoing terminal in Aba, emphasizing that this would reduce pressure on public electricity in running the terminals.

“I want to thank you for a good job. And I expect that even Aba bus terminal will be more beautiful than Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal,” The Governor stated.

The Governor expressed happiness that residents, particularly private operators, are adapting to the Nnenna Oti Terminal.

“Our people are adapting to the place, particularly the private operators. And just like you [Biodun Otunola] rightly said, it’s about the confidence they have in the government,” Gov. Otti stated.

Governor Otti said instructions have already been given on security.

“We already have given instructions on security clearly. I had instructed that walk-through scanners and log-in scanners be introduced.

“And I’ve also restricted entry to just one point. So, I’m sure they are putting everything together. So in the next few days or weeks, that security strategy will be implemented,” Gov. Otti stated.

The State Chief Executive equally stressed the need to deploy more personnel to ensure the terminal is kept clean at all times.

Earlier, the Managing Director of Planet Project, Engr. Biodun Otunola, thanked the Governor for the opportunity given to them to deliver the Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal and traffic lights, which he described as testaments to the Governor’s work in the State.

He officially reported that operations at the terminal have commenced and appreciated the progress made so far. He added that the achievement recorded in less than one month shows that people believe in the Governor.

“Concerning Aba Terminal, work is going on well there, and we are poised to finish by the end of November.

“Yes, and we are doing everything we can to make sure that project is delivered by November ending,” Engr. Otunola said.

While informing the Governor that the Aba terminal would be ready by November this year, Engr. Otunola requested that external security be provided at the Nnenna Oti Terminal ahead of a possible upsurge in patronage by December.

The Secretary to the State Government. Dr. Emmanuel Meribeole, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, the Principal Secretary and Chief Strategy Officer, Mr. Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu, among other members of the State Executive Council were present at the meeting.
