President Bola Tinubu is expected to declare open an international conference on security and national unity in Abuja on Tuesday, organised by Jama’atu Izalatil Bidiah wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) Nigeria in partnership with the Muslim World League of Saudi Arabia.
The two-day conference at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre will bring together religious leaders, policymakers, traditional rulers, diplomats and other stakeholders to discuss security and peaceful coexistence.
Key issues are expected to include kidnapping, banditry, terrorism, countering extremism, community resilience, national unity, religious tolerance and socio-economic development.
Muslim World League Secretary-General Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, who is also Chairman of the Organisation of Islamic Scholars, has arrived in Abuja for the event.
Al-Issa said his visit was focused on promoting peace and peaceful coexistence, while stressing that stability in Nigeria would contribute to peace across West Africa and beyond.
He also commended President Tinubu’s efforts to promote peaceful coexistence between Muslims and non-Muslims in Nigeria.
The conference is expected to conclude with a national preaching session at the JIBWIS headquarters in Utako, Abuja.
