Chelsea have reportedly set a firm deadline for any potential move involving midfielder Enzo Fernandez, with the club unwilling to sell the Argentine unless their £120 million valuation is met without a discount.
The deadline is set for 5pm UK time today, after which Chelsea are expected to close the door on a transfer and retain the midfielder.
Manchester City are understood to be the club with the strongest interest in Fernandez. City manager Pep Guardiola reportedly wants the midfielder, while the Premier League champions remain in contact with Fernandez’s representatives as they assess whether to make a move.
City have already strengthened their midfield with the signing of Tijjani Reijnders, following Bernardo Silva’s departure, while reports of Rodri’s advanced talks with Barcelona could further influence their plans.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is also keen to keep Fernandez as part of his plans, making the situation increasingly dependent on Manchester City’s decision.
With the deadline approaching, City must now decide whether Fernandez is worth the £120 million price tag or whether to end their pursuit.
