Member of the House of Representatives, Bamidele Salam, has called on the Nigeria Police Force to investigate an alleged incident involving some police officers at a Registration Area Centre (RAC) in Ife East Local Government Area of Osun State.
Salam, in a post shared ahead of the Osun State governorship election, alleged that some police personnel seen in a video invaded a RAC centre in Ife East LGA Ward 10, Modakeke Ward 3.
According to the lawmaker, the officers allegedly fired tear gas at the centre in an attempt to disrupt the distribution of election materials.
He further alleged that election materials were subsequently carted away from the RAC centre.
Salam urged the Nigeria Police Force to immediately investigate the allegation and take appropriate action if the claims are established.
He also called for measures to protect the integrity of the electoral process and ensure that voters in Osun State are allowed to participate in a credible and peaceful election.
