Human rights activist and political commentator Deji Adeyanju has reacted to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the 2026 Osun State governorship election, questioning the political relationship between Adeleke and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement shared on social media, Adeyanju alleged that despite what he described as Adeleke’s support for President Bola Tinubu, some elements within the APC still wanted the Osun governor removed from office.

Adeyanju argued that the APC already had significant political advantages ahead of the 2027 general elections, claiming that having Adeleke and his political structure aligned with Tinubu would benefit the ruling party.

He described the situation using the popular expression, “eating with the devil requires a long spoon,” while sharply criticising those he believed were seeking Adeleke’s defeat.

Adeyanju also questioned whether Adeleke would change his political stance following the election, asking if the governor would now work against Tinubu.

However, he gave his own answer, stating that, in his opinion, Adeleke would not turn against Tinubu and would continue to work with him.
