President Bola Tinubu has urged re-elected Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to unite the people of the state and focus on delivering growth and development after securing another term in office.
Tinubu made the call while congratulating Adeleke on his re-election in the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said Adeleke’s victory demonstrated the confidence placed in him by the people of Osun State.
According to Tinubu, the governor’s immediate responsibility after the election should be to bring together residents across political divides and work towards the stability and socio-economic progress of the state.
“Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made in the election,” Tinubu said.
The President also commended the other candidates who participated in the election, saying their involvement strengthened Nigeria’s democratic culture.
He described the outcome as a reflection of the will of the people and said Adeleke’s re-election was an assurance that democracy would continue to thrive in Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress administration.
Tinubu further praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for what he described as a peaceful and transparent electoral process that produced a clear winner.
The President had earlier called Adeleke to congratulate him on his electoral victory and wished him success as he prepares to begin another four-year term as governor of Osun State.
