Hon. Chief Kevin Tobias Chukwu, popularly known by his traditional title, Ochiri Ozua I of Amagu, is a Nigerian entrepreneur, political leader, community mobiliser, philanthropist and development advocate whose journey has been defined by enterprise, service, grassroots engagement and an enduring commitment to the progress of his people and Nigeria.

Born into the distinguished family of the late Chief Tobias Chukwu, Omeruoha I of Alike, a respected entrepreneur and founder of BEAS Nigeria Limited, Kaduna, Kevin Chukwu was raised in an environment where hard work, discipline, responsibility and service were deeply valued.

He hails from Enyim Agalagu, Ndufu Alike, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, and from an early age, his father’s entrepreneurial spirit shaped his understanding of leadership. He learnt that success is not measured merely by personal achievement, but by the positive impact one makes on the lives of others.

His family background also exposed him to the diversity of Nigeria. With maternal roots and significant formative connections in Northern Nigeria, he developed relationships across ethnic, religious and regional boundaries. These experiences strengthened his belief that Nigeria’s diversity is an asset capable of driving unity, cooperation and national development.

Despite his broad national exposure, his connection to his ancestral community has remained strong. He has maintained close relationships with youths, women, elders, traditional rulers and community leaders, remaining deeply connected to the aspirations and everyday realities of his people.

EDUCATION AND INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT

Hon. Chief Kevin Tobias Chukwu studied Political Science at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT).

Driven by a desire to deepen his understanding of democratic institutions and political processes, he proceeded to the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), where he obtained a Master’s degree in Elections and Party Politics.

His passion for democratic governance has continued to drive his academic development, as he commences a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme at NILDS.

His academic training has complemented his practical experience in business, politics, community mobilisation and stakeholder engagement. It has also strengthened his understanding of elections, political parties, legislative processes, democratic accountability and effective representation.

For Chief Chukwu, politics is not simply about winning elections. It is about understanding institutions and using them effectively to create opportunities and improve the lives of citizens.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND PRIVATE-SECTOR LEADERSHIP

Chief Chukwu is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lykombop Nigeria Limited, an indigenous company with interests spanning infrastructure, transportation, technology, energy, investment facilitation and strategic development partnerships.

His years in the private sector have brought him into contact with business leaders, government institutions, investors and development partners in Nigeria and beyond.

His entrepreneurial philosophy is built around identifying opportunities that can create employment, stimulate investment, expand markets and contribute to sustainable economic development.

One of his notable initiatives is the Made in Nigeria Mobile App (MIN), conceived as a digital platform designed to connect Nigerian manufacturers, producers, entrepreneurs and service providers with consumers and markets.

The initiative reflects his strong advocacy for local content, indigenous enterprise, digital inclusion, industrialisation and job creation.

His belief is simple: Nigeria must strengthen its capacity to produce what it consumes while creating stronger markets for products and services made by Nigerians.

TECHNOLOGY, TRANSPORTATION AND AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT

Chief Chukwu’s development interests extend beyond traditional business and politics.

As Coordinator of the Electric Vehicles for Africa (EWEVA) initiative, he has championed conversations around electric mobility, alternative-energy transportation, charging infrastructure, technology transfer and public-private partnerships.

His engagements in this area have expanded his network across Africa and internationally, while reinforcing his conviction that African countries must become active participants in developing the technologies and industries that will shape the continent’s future.

He believes Africa should not remain merely a consumer of emerging technologies. Instead, African governments, entrepreneurs and businesses must develop the skills, infrastructure and partnerships required to compete in the global economy.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

At the centre of Chief Chukwu’s philosophy is the belief that development begins with people.

Through the Ochiri Ozua Youth Foundation and several personal interventions, he has supported initiatives involving youth development, education, mentorship, empowerment and community advancement.

His approach to grassroots leadership is rooted in accessibility.

Despite his extensive business, political and international engagements, he remains comfortable interacting with ordinary citizens, community elders, young people, women and traditional institutions.

His sociable and outgoing personality has enabled him to build relationships across different levels of society. Those who know him closely often describe his simplicity, accessibility and willingness to engage freely with people as some of his defining qualities.

For Chief Chukwu, leadership loses its meaning when leaders become disconnected from the people they represent.

POLITICAL JOURNEY

Chief Chukwu’s political journey evolved from years of community engagement, political participation and advocacy for development.

His experience has exposed him to the realities of party organisation, grassroots mobilisation, electoral competition, political negotiation and democratic representation.

Over time, he became increasingly convinced that sustainable change requires participation in the institutions responsible for making laws, approving budgets, conducting oversight and determining national priorities.

This conviction informed his decision to seek election to the House of Representatives for Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency.

Following consultations with political stakeholders, traditional institutions, community leaders, youths, women and supporters, he contested the nomination process and emerged as the NDC candidate for the Federal Constituency.

For him, the nomination is not merely a political achievement. It is an opportunity to build a stronger movement around effective representation, accountability and development.

A VISION FOR EZZA SOUTH AND IKWO

Chief Kevin Tobias Chukwu believes representation must go beyond occupying a seat in the National Assembly.

In his view, an effective representative must understand the legislative process, speak courageously for constituents, participate meaningfully in lawmaking and oversight, attract development opportunities and maintain constant communication with the people.

His vision for Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency focuses on education and human-capital development, youth and women empowerment, agriculture and agro-processing, healthcare, infrastructure, technology and digital inclusion, entrepreneurship, employment creation, community security and economic development.

Young people occupy a central place in his vision.

He believes the most important long-term investment for Ezza South and Ikwo is to equip its younger generation with education, technical skills, digital knowledge, entrepreneurial opportunities and access to networks that can enable them to compete nationally and internationally.

He also advocates transforming the agricultural potential of the constituency from predominantly subsistence activity into a stronger economic value chain supported by processing facilities, storage, market access, infrastructure and investment.

Drawing from his private-sector experience, he believes government cannot solve every development challenge alone. Effective representation must build partnerships among government, communities, businesses, investors and development institutions.

A BRIDGE ACROSS GENERATIONS AND COMMUNITIES

One of Chief Chukwu’s defining qualities is his ability to operate across different social and geographical environments while remaining connected to his roots.

His paternal roots are firmly established in Ikwo, while his maternal heritage and experiences have given him strong connections to Northern Nigeria. His business activities have expanded his relationships across Nigeria and beyond, while his community engagement has kept him firmly connected to the grassroots.

These experiences have shaped a worldview that is both local in commitment and national in outlook.

He sees Ezza South and Ikwo not as isolated communities, but as a constituency whose people deserve access to the opportunities available across Nigeria and the wider global economy.

THE MAN BEHIND THE PUBLIC LIFE

Away from politics and business, Chief Kevin Tobias Chukwu is a family man, married and blessed with children.

He values friendship, loyalty, compassion and human relationships, and believes people should be respected regardless of their social or economic status.

His traditional title, Ochiri Ozua I of Amagu, has become an important part of his public identity and grassroots relationship. To him, traditional recognition is not merely a privilege but a responsibility to protect community interests, remain accessible and deploy influence for the benefit of others.

His faith in God remains central to his personal philosophy. He attributes his journey through entrepreneurship, community leadership and public service to divine grace, perseverance and the goodwill of people who have supported and believed in him.

A NEW VISION FOR REPRESENTATION

As he seeks the mandate of the people of Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency, Hon. Chief Kevin Tobias Chukwu presents himself as more than a politician seeking public office.

He presents a combination of entrepreneurial experience, academic knowledge, grassroots relationships, political understanding and development advocacy.

His proposition is straightforward:

Representation must be visible.
Representation must be accessible.
Representation must attract opportunities.
Representation must produce measurable results.

He believes an elected representative must remain connected to the same communities visited during campaigns throughout the entire tenure of office.

His aspiration is therefore to contribute to building a constituency where the people have a strong voice in Abuja, young people can access meaningful opportunities, communities can experience tangible development, businesses can grow and elected leadership remains accountable to the people.

Guided by the values inherited from his family and reinforced through years of experience — hard work, courage, integrity, compassion, enterprise, loyalty and service to humanity — Chief Kevin Tobias Chukwu seeks to bring these principles to the service of Ezza South and Ikwo Federal Constituency and, ultimately, to the service of Nigeria.

HIS PHILOSOPHY

“Leadership is a sacred trust. Its true measure is not the position a person occupies, but the opportunities created, the lives improved and the legacy left for generations yet unborn.”
