Content creator Victoire Mahounou has opened up about the personal experiences that shaped her sceptical view of marriage, revealing that she never had the opportunity to witness her parents share a loving relationship.

Mahounou made the revelation while speaking with Cyril Okoi, where she explained that her perception of marriage was influenced by her childhood experience.

According to the content creator, she lost her mother at the age of 10 and therefore did not grow up seeing both parents together and expressing love for each other.

“I don’t believe in marriage. People just use that one to trap themselves for life,” Mahounou said.

Asked whether her position could be linked to not experiencing a healthy parental partnership while growing up, she acknowledged that her childhood played a role.

“I did not see anybody love up on anybody,” she stated.

Mahounou’s comments highlight how personal experiences and family backgrounds can shape people’s perceptions of relationships and marriage, with the content creator making it clear that she does not subscribe to the idea of marriage as an institution.
