Political Hustlers – Sowore Slams Davido Over Meeting With Wike After Osun Election

Popular Nigerian activist Omoyele Sowore has criticised Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, following the singer’s recent meeting with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Davido visited Wike at his Abuja residence on Thursday alongside his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, days after the governorship election in Osun State.

A video circulating online showed Davido engaging Wike in a light-hearted conversation about the outcome of the election.

Reacting to the footage, Sowore questioned the singer’s decision to associate with Wike, particularly against the backdrop of the violence and deaths reported before and during the Osun election.

Describing Davido and other political actors as “political hustlers,” Sowore accused them of putting personal and political interests ahead of the concerns of ordinary Nigerians.

He wrote on X: “Here is the loud and lousy @davido genuflecting before Nyesom Wike @GovWike, barely a week after their ‘agreement is agreement’ election politics in Osun, a contest marred by deadly violence and the loss of scores of lives.”

Sowore further alleged that the political class often sets aside public disagreements when their interests converge.

His comments have since sparked reactions online, with the meeting between Davido, Governor Adeleke and Wike generating renewed debate over celebrity involvement in politics and the alliances formed by political actors after elections.
