Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the 2027 presidential election is already assured, dismissing efforts by opposition politicians to build a coalition against the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Wike made the remarks while speaking with journalists in Abuja on Friday, insisting that no political group would be able to prevent Tinubu from securing another term in office.
The FCT Minister also took a swipe at African Democratic Congress chieftain, Dele Momodu, over his reported efforts to persuade Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to join the opposition party.
According to Wike, Momodu’s repeated references to his connection with Ile-Ife would not be enough to convince Adeleke to abandon the ruling political camp.
Wike’s comments come as opposition parties intensify consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections, with discussions around possible alliances and defections gaining momentum.
His declaration has also stirred fresh debate over the political landscape ahead of 2027, particularly amid claims by some opposition figures that the ruling APC is already positioning itself for victory.
The former Rivers State governor, however, appeared confident that the political calculations of the opposition would not alter Tinubu’s chances in the next presidential contest.
