Tinubu Takes Charge as APC Names 108-Member Presidential Campaign Council

President Bola Tinubu will lead the 108-member All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election, with Vice President Kashim Shettima serving as vice chairman. The council was announced on Saturday, August 22, 2026, as the party begins preparations for the presidential campaign.

Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari has been appointed Director-General, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma will serve as secretary. APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas are also among the senior officials appointed to key positions.

The council includes several prominent political figures, with Adams Oshiomhole assigned to mobilisation and James Faleke overseeing election planning, coordination and monitoring. Information Minister Mohammed Idris will coordinate the media directorate alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.

Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo is also among the 108 members of the campaign council. Five spokespersons have been appointed, with Dele Alake serving as the lead spokesperson as the APC prepares to campaign for Tinubu’s re-election.

The appointments come shortly after the 2027 presidential campaign period officially began on August 19, with political parties and candidates stepping up preparations ahead of the election.
