A woman identified as Vainess Kanyama of Kapoto Township has reportedly died after confronting another woman over an alleged affair with her husband.
The incident is said to have occurred on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, when Kanyama went to confront Christin Ntundwe, who also lives in Kapoto Township.
The deceased’s uncle, Derrick Bwalya, confirmed the incident, saying he received a call informing him that his niece had been found unconscious near the market.
According to Bwalya, he rushed to the scene and found several people surrounding Kanyama, who was bleeding from the nose and was unresponsive.
He said attempts to take her to the hospital were unsuccessful after he was informed that she had already died.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police.
Bwalya said Kanyama had been living with her husband in the area before she decided to confront the suspect over the alleged affair. One of her daughters, who was reportedly with her at the time, later rushed home to alert relatives after finding her mother unconscious.
The family laid Kanyama to rest on Friday following a post-mortem examination, which reportedly established that she died from blood clots on both sides of the brain.
The family is calling for justice and wants the circumstances surrounding her death to be fully investigated.
Bwalya also urged Kanyama’s husband to cooperate with the police and assist investigators in locating Ntundwe, who is reportedly on the run.
Kanyama leaves behind three children, with her youngest child said to be five years old.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are expected to determine what led to the fatal incident and whether anyone will face criminal charges.
