The 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has claimed that he has evidence that President Bola Tinubu is 90 years old.
Atiku made the claim in an interview with the BBC published on Friday.
He said he was ready to present the evidence in court if the need arose.
The former Vice President also spoke about his decision to continue contesting for the presidency despite his previous attempts.
Atiku said his opposition to military rule and his past disqualifications were among the reasons he continued to seek the presidency.
He also said he has a constitutional right to contest and is prepared to serve the country, citing his experience, competence and patriotism.
On Nigeria’s insecurity, Atiku blamed the government for what he described as failures in defence and policing.
He promised to tackle the problem within one year if elected president.
Explaining why he believes he should be allowed to serve, Atiku said:
“You have a President who is 90 years old now and sick and I am healthy and strong. So why won’t I make myself available to serve my country?
“You went and voted for someone who is 90 years old. I have evidence that President Tinubu is 90 years old and I will present it in court,” Atiku said.
